You'll probably want to avoid the annoying login step every time you reboot your mythbox, so edit /etc/gdm/gdm.conf to do so. Look for your Automatic Login section, and make sure it looks like this:
[daemon]
# Automatic login, if true the first local screen
# will automatically logged
# in as user as set with AutomaticLogin key.
AutomaticLoginEnable=true
AutomaticLogin=mythtv
